A study conducted in 2019 showed that 20% of children ages 12-18 experienced bullying.
While the argument by some is that the frequency of bullying has decreased over the years the data paints a very different picture. What has become evident is that bullying can be prevented in communities where an intentional focus on creating a culture of mindfulness and respect is evident and where community members choose to be an active part of the solution.
James Collier, III is the 11-year-old founder and CEO of iii4me (pronounced three-4-me), Inc. Iii4me, inc is an anti-bullying resource based on the 3 foundational strategies he and his mother implemented when he became a victim of bullying. Together they created a plan that helped to end the bullying he experienced as well as helped the leaders in his community stop bullying for others like him.
James believes that there are 3 things kids can do in partnership with their parents to stop bullying. Step 1: Create a plan, Step 2: Creatively process your feelings, and Step 3: show yourself some love. Using these steps James not only ended the bullying he experienced but also created a movement that is truly changing the world. With the help of his mom, James has inspired over 20,000 people to sign his Anti-Bullying Pledge in which the signers pledge to report bullying, treat others fairly, and live courageously.
